These are pre-arranged packages for before and after the congress. Delegates can, however, arrange tours with the tour company outside this tour package
Day 1
To discover more about the rich heritage of Africa, this tour will take you to the
W.E.B Dubois Centre and the National Museum, which has a range of historical artefacts of all kinds.
We will continue to the Precious Minerals Marketing Company to touch and feel Gold as well as to witness the actual production of jewellery. PMMC is State owned and produces beautiful genuine jewellery in gold as well as other metal. You can purchase jewellery in authentic Ghanaian designs and symbols with meanings.
For lunch, enjoy the option of a typical Ghanaian dish of your choice or a well- prepared continental meal.
Experience a typical African market with a walk through the 31st December Women’s market, and try your negotiation skills as you shop for colourful Ghanaian fabrics amongst other local items.
We will stop by the Independence Arch en route to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum (the final resting place of Ghana’s first president; home to many of his insightful literary works and personal items) and eventually to the Centre for National Culture where you can shop for handicrafts, local jewellery and traditional clothes.
Day 2
Kumasi, commonly referred to as the Garden City, is the capital of the Ashanti Region.
The Region is the centre of Culture and Tradition.
We will leave Accra at 7am on a four hours trip to Kumasi. Our visit will take us to the Manhyia Palace, official residence of the Asantehene, King of Ashanti kingdom.
We will visit the Prempeh II Museum, and the Okomfo Anokye sword site, a legendary sword said to have been driven into the ground by this traditional priest years ago. No person has been able to remove it to date!
Day 3
Kumasi is the centre of many Ashanti craft villages, you will enjoy watching traditional artisans at work. We will visit Bonwire to see weaving of Kente (one of Ghana’s many beautiful and colourful traditional fabrics) and Ntonso to discover the secrets of the Adinkra cloth. Alternatively, the visit will take us to Asuofia to see bead making and Anpobame Krofron for its brass smiths. A visit can also be arranged to Anwhia for carvings.
Day 4
The next stop, the Central Region of Ghana. Cape Coast is the capital of the Central Region. It was the seat of the British Colonial Administration of the Gold Coast until 1877 when it was moved to Accra. In Cape Coast, explore the Elmina and Cape Coast castles both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, to see the slave dungeons. A walk in the steps of the slaves is an unforgettable experience for any person. Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482 was the first European building in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Day 5
In Cape Coast, we will continue to the Kakum National Park, which is a nature reserve and has interesting flora and fauna. You may attempt to go on the Canopy Walkway and have a breathtaking experience or go on a nature walk through the forest. The Canopy Walkway is a suspended platform connected to trunks of giant forest trees, several metres above the ground. It is one of the only four Canopy Walkways in the world and the only one in Africa.
Return to Accra.
Day 6
We leave Accra at 7am and drive to Akosombo to see the largest man-made lake in the world.
We will drive past the Shai Hills reserve consists of a very striking and attractive range of rocky hills set in the middle of expansive open and wooded grassland plains. We may come across a group of baboons if we are lucky.
At Akosombo we will enjoy a guided tour of the Hydro - Electric Dam. The Dam supplies energy to the whole of Ghana and some neighbouring West African countries such as Togo and Benin.
We will also go for a boat ride on the Volta Lake if time permits at the Senchi River Resort, have lunch and enjoy the view of the villages around. We will prepare to depart to Accra by 4pm.
Day 7
Finalize all shopping and prepare for departure.

HERE WE COME (full day Accra City Tour)
Accra has been Ghana’s Administrative and Political
capital since 1877. It is also home to the Ga Tribe.
We will visit the W.E.B Du Bois Center for Pan- africanism,
drive round the Independence Square, visit the Kwame
Nkrumah Mausoleum a memorial to the visionary first
president of Ghana, and continue to the Center for National
Culture with its intriguing collection of African clothes,
Arts and Crafts. If time permits we will also visit
the Woodin shop for a fine selection of Afrocentric
fabrics and prêt a porte outfits. Finalize shopping
and return to Hotel.

ENCOUNTER
NATURE AND GHANA’S PAST (Cape Coast Tour)
CapeCoast and Elmina in the Central Region teach about
Ghana historic past and first encounter with Europeans.
CapeCoast was the seat of the British colonial administration
up to 1877. En-route from Accra to Cape Coast are several
fishing villages. Mankessim one of the towns is well
known for its “Posuban” shrine and busy
market. Drive straight to
Kakum National Park a unique rain forest with a diverse
range of flora and fauna. Experience the canopy walkway
or go hiking with forest guards. The canopy walkway
is one of four worldwide and the only one of its kind
in Africa composed of 350 meters of swing bridge and
six tree platforms that reach a height of 30 - 75 metres.
Visit Elmina and CapeCoast castles and experience slave
dungeons, chilling sites of mankind’s darkest
chapters. Note the negotiating house where slave
prices were negotiated. Elmina and Cape Coast castle are on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Elmina was built by the Portuguese in 1482 and was the first european building to be built in sub-saharan Africa.

GARDEN CITY (Kumasi Tour)

A BITE OF LIFE
Drive to Akosombo to see one of the largest man-made
lakes in the world. Enjoy the fascinating view of the
Shai Hills and Kloyo mountains.
En-route stop at the Shai Hills Reserve for a tour. The reserve consists of a very striking and attractive range of rocky hills set in the middle of expansive openand wooded grassland plains. It combines nature conservation, rich cultural interest and archaeological sites with splendid scenic beauty created by a dry evergreen forest on the hills and the savannah plains.
There are several cave systems in the hills, some of which have played and continue to play important roles in local history, culture and tradition. The reserve is home to several interesting and rare plant species, At present, the reserve supports some mammals, some birds, and some reptiles. We may come across a group of baboons if we are lucky.

KOKROBITE TOUR (Cultural Tour)
Enjoy a calm drive to Kokrobite, a fishing village on
the outskirts of Accra. Visit the Kokrobite Beach Resort
and enjoy an afternoon of African drumming and dancing
at the Academy of African Music and Arts. Take the opportunity
to learn how to dance and play African drums. You can
also spend the day at the beach enjoying the breeze
and swimming in the ocean.

ABURI BOTANICAL GARDEN TOUR
The Aburi Botanical Garden established by the British in 1890, Is set within the Akwapim Hills 30km from the city. The 100 years old gardens offer a fantastic range of indigenous and exotic trees as well as many birds and butterflies, plus fabulous views. Within the wonderful setting you can wander the many footpaths or enjoy the scenery over a meal in one of the outdoor garden restaurants.You can also visit wood carvers for souvenirs, and the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm to see two of the original Cocoa trees.

VOLTA REGION TOUR (3 DAYS)
Day 1: This tour will depart the venue at 7.00pm prompt to the Volta Region.Discover the Wli Waterfalls in the Wli Nature Reserve, a tropical forest near Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana. Wli is an all year round waterfall with a height of about 80 feet, it is the highest waterfall in Ghana. You will enjoy the intriguing 45 minutes walk as we cross streams at eleven different points en-route to the waterfall. Mt. Afadjato is the highest peak in Ghana and is located also in the Volta Region, the mountain attracts climbers of all ages. At a height of 885m, enjoy a guided tour to visit this spectacular site. Close by is the Tagbo Falls, it is extremely spectacular with a wonderful plunge pool. We will stop at Dr. Noamesi’s Herbal Treatment and Research Center for a briefing about the Center’s herbal preparations for baldness, diabetes. Overnight.
Day 2: Today we will depart early to visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary.
Participate in a guided tour of Tafi Atome and the Monkey Sanctuary. See Mona monkeys mingle and eat with the inhabitants. The sacred monkey sanctuaries are some 5km away from Avatime Hills in the Volta Region.
We will continue the journey to Kpetoe a renown Kente Weaving village. Enjoy the craftsmanship and this unique but widely celebrated cloth.
Day 3: Amedzofe lies 35km from Ho, a former German mission it is the site for a well known teacher training college and attractive century old church. Facing Amedzofe, Mount Gemi one of the highest mountains in the country.

MOLE NATIONAL PARK (3 DAYS)
Day 1: On this three days tour we will depart Accra very early and stay overnight in Tamale, with a brief stop in Kumasi.
Day 2: Early arrival at the Mole National Park will give opportunity to view the herds of elephant as they come to drink water at the river.
The park is a 4840km savannah and rocky outcrop reserve that has about 93 species of mammals, including herds of elephant, buck and small plains game. Occasionally lion and leopard can be seen resting after a kill, and the range of birdlife (approximately300 species) is considerable. Get ready for the occasional light off, and closure of tapes.
Larabanga Mosque
A 13th century Mosque, believed to be first built by Moorish traders, it is one the holiest sites in Ghana. Its distinctive façade has been widely photographed.
Larabanga Mystery Stone
Nearby is a mysterious boulder that is the subject of a splendid local legend. We will visit this if time permits.Return to Tamale, for early morning departure to Kumasi.
Day 3: Arrive in Kumasi, have lunch short city tour and depart to Accra.

XAVI BIRDWATCHING AND CULTURAL TOURS
Xavi is an Ewe village whose rich culture is deeply rooted in the traditional beliefs of the area. On this tour one will experience a visit to the village, its name means ‘birds’, and take a short walk to the Lotor River which is nestled by coastal savannah fringing the wetlands of the Avu Lagoon. Trained guides paddle the visitors down the river in a canoe to view an astonishing variety of birds. One will also see the beautiful and diverse flora and local fishing practices by local fisher folk.
There is also the Xavi Baobab Tree Grove which visitors can go to. The grove is a haven for over sixty Baobab trees. This is an experience which should not be missed.
VOLTA RIVER ESTUARY
This is an area of extraordinary scenic beauty, where the river, ocean and
sandy beaches come together. A cruise on this water can be both relaxing
and enchanting. The Estuary is at Ada in the Greater Accra Region. Ada is a popular resort area and favorite base for water sports. Ada is also a good spot for fishing; you could try your hands at it if you have the necessary equipment.
A relaxing time at the beach is guaranteed. In season one may even see some turtles.
TAFI ATOME MONKEY SAUNCTUARY
The Beautiful and peaceful village is surrounded by indigenous tropical forest with high floral concentration, and situated in the heart of the Volta Region.
Tafi Atome is home to a sacred and rare population of Mona Monkeys. You will have opportunity to view the endangered Mona Monkeys in their natural habitat. This experience is best early in the morning or late in the evening. Experience village life and enjoy the culture of Tafi.
You could also visit the nearby Kente Weaving Village of Abuife.
You will also have opportunity to participate in the local entertainment package of story-telling and drumming and dancing.

PRESERVING NATURE A FUTURE GUARANTEED
The serene Tagbo Falls can be found in Liate Wote in the Volta Region and near the famous Afadjato, the highest mountain in Ghana. Afadjato sits
2905 feet above sea level and a must “challenge” for all. Liate Wote is a peaceful village nestled at the foot of the range of mountains that make up the Ghana/Togo border.
A visit to Liate Wote will give you opportunity to conquer the Afadjato, and end up with a rewardingly breathtaking view. You could also take a hike through the forest, coffee, and cocoa plantations, to the serene Tagbo Falls to swim in the refreshing pool.

If you are looking for relaxation then THIS IS IT!! Bunso Aboretum is a beautiful 6.5 hectare protected forest reserve. It is home to over 110 species of birds, butterflies, different kinds of herbs, and indigenous trees, just the place for relaxation and rest.
You can go on a tour of the Arboretum and learn about the different uses of the plants and trees. You can also see and learn about fruits and trees from other countries which have been introduced to Ghana.
This place is a haven for bird watching. Plan a picnic with family and friends, you can also take time to learn about the cocoa crop at the nearby Cocoa Research Institute at Tafo.
The Arboretum has an idyllic guest house for overnight stay.
